Dr. Stephenie Spencer specializes in working with performers and athletes to manage performance issues, anxiety, and overcoming setbacks such as injuries, as well as with coaches and athletic trainers. Stephenie also enjoys working with young adults managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism, and those going through major life transitions. She received specialized training in concussion assessment, diagnosis, and treatment at the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program, and enjoys helping individuals experiencing sport-related concussions return to enjoying their favorite activities.

Stephenie’s therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing on evidence-based theories and techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Biofeedback, and Mindfulness, while considering the impact of social, environmental, and cultural factors on daily functioning. She is particularly passionate about integrating physical health factors into her practice, emphasizing the mind-body connection. In sessions, she values collaboration, transparency, and, above all, a healthy dose of humor.

Stephenie is committed to providing LGBTQIA2S+ affirming care and cares deeply about creating a safe and supportive space for clients of all identities to explore their identities without judgment. By incorporating her clients’ strengths and values into their sessions, Stephenie uses a positive psychology approach to meet clients where they are while encouraging self-acceptance, empowerment, and resilience.

Stephenie completed her undergraduate degree at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, earning a BS in both psychology and exercise science with a concentration in motor behavior. She earned her master’s degree (MS) in psychology with a concentration in athletic counseling from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. Stephenie earned her doctorate degree (PsyD) in counseling psychology from Chatham University in Pittsburgh. She completed her APA-Accredited Doctoral Internship in Health Psychology at The University of Akron, Counseling and Testing Center. In addition to her clinical practice, Stephenie is also an adjunct faculty member at Chatham University.
