Nashita Zahin, DNP, PMHNP-BC (she/her)
Dr. Nashita Zahin is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management across the lifespan. She works with individuals ages 6 and above and treats a wide range of diagnoses, including ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression and other mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma-related disorders, and neurodevelopmental and neurocognitive conditions.
Nashita believes psychiatric care should be collaborative and individualized. She takes time to understand each patient’s symptoms within the context of their life, relationships, medical history, and personal goals rather than focusing on a diagnosis alone. She values helping patients understand the reasoning behind their treatment options and works with them to develop a plan that is both evidence-based and realistic for their lives.
Her clinical approach incorporates thoughtful medication management alongside nonpharmacologic strategies and close collaboration with therapists, families, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals when appropriate. At Strong Foundations, she values being able to work closely with therapists and other mental health providers while also collaborating with outside clinicians involved in a patient’s care. She strives to create an environment where patients feel comfortable asking questions, discussing concerns openly, and taking an active role in their treatment.
Nashita earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. Her psychiatric training included care across the lifespan in outpatient psychiatry, inpatient and acute psychiatric settings, psychiatric emergency services, psychotherapy, and consultation-liaison psychiatry, including caring for individuals with psychiatric concerns in the setting of medical illness and hospitalization. She has also served as a clinical instructor for nursing students from the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital.
