Christina Murzynski, LAPC (she/her)
Christina Murzynski is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor with eclectic experience supporting adolescents and adults in both research and clinical settings. Her career in mental health ranges from examining therapeutic treatment in research studies to outpatient private practice therapy.
In practice, Christina uses aspects of evidence-based treatment techniques, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). She has experience working with adolescents and adults struggling with depressive and anxiety disorders, adjustment disorder and grief, men’s and women’s issues, Autism/ADHD, bipolar disorder, and trauma. Christina prioritizes a person-centered, strength-based approach to therapy that aims to build a curious and open alliance that clients feel safe exploring in. Highly aware of the ways in which it can feel impossible being flexible against rigid and harmful systems, Christina is committed to providing culturally responsive and LGBTQIA+ affirming treatment and recognizing the complex ways in which developmental and environmental factors interact with one’s identity and health.
Christina holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a certificate in child development from Penn State Erie. She obtained her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh. She has had additional training in gender affirming care and radicalization and violent extremism prevention. Outside of session, Christina can most readily be found holding an umbrella over her dog’s head so she will go outside in the rain.
