Emily Kurland, PsyD (she/her)

Dr. Emily Kurland is a post-doctoral resident with experience supporting children, adolescents, and young adults from diverse backgrounds. She believes in a compassionate, strength-based approach to thoughtfully address the complex, interconnected factors impacting mental health.

Emily has worked in both public-school and private practice settings, conducting psychoeducational and neuropsychological assessments, providing therapeutic support, and implementing individualized, evidence-based interventions. These experiences have provided her the opportunity to connect with children, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to integrate strategies that align with each individual’s strengths, while addressing a diverse range of social, emotional, and behavioral needs across home, school, and community settings.

She uses an integrative, evidence-based approach, contextualizing social, emotional, behavioral, and academic concerns within development, and recognizing how individual experiences shape these processes in order to support children and their families in meeting their unique goals. In addition to therapeutic services, she has specialized training in psychological, educational, and behavioral assessments, conducting evaluations for concerns such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, intellectual and learning disabilities, mood and anxiety disorders, and other psychiatric concerns.

Emily completed her undergraduate degree at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with additional studies in Special Education. She then completed her Master of Science degree in Education with a concentration in Child Psychology from Duquesne University, before earning her doctorate degree (PsyD) in School Psychology, also from Duquesne University. In addition to her clinical experiences in public schools, she completed her pre-doctoral internship in the private practice setting.

She strives to promote a safe, collaborative therapeutic environment where individuals feel valued and supported in confidently navigating their unique social, emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges, through evidence-based assessment, intervention, and ongoing support.
