Edwin King, MD (he/him)
Dr. Ed King is a Board Certified Pediatrician (MD). During his over 20-year-long career in the South Hills, he has treated countless children and adolescents and built a reputation as a caring and compassionate resource for his patients and their parents alike.
Dr. King applies a holistic focus to patient health: In addition to medical issues, he looks for underlying mental health concerns and learning issues. His central career focus is the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD. He emphasizes patients’ positive outlook on strength and potential. He coaches them to seek environments that leverage their capabilities while identifying (and potentially avoiding) environments where harm to their wellness can be unseen.
Before medical school, Dr. King worked with developmentally disabled children as a live-in care manager. Inspired by his work, he completed a solo cross-country bicycle ride to raise awareness and money for abused children. Later in his career, he was a founding partner of Thrive Outdoors, an outdoor survival school that emphasizes adventure and eco therapy for children and adolescents.
Dr. King works mainly with patients from 4-18, but is happy to discuss mental health with parents of even younger children, if there is a family history or a genetic predisposition. Dr. King received dual Bachelor’s of Science degrees from Keene State College and completed medical school at Thomas Jefferson Medical College (renamed Sidney Kimmel Medical College). He completed a residency in pediatrics in the Thomas Jefferson University/Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children joint program. He also completed graduate study in Biomedical Informatics under an NIH grant.
